Holy Fire Publishing (http://www.christianpublish.com ) releases Praying Fingertips (Paperback, US $25.00, ISBN# 978-1-60383-202-1), a book of Christian meditations from a father's perspective.
Praying Fingertips is a collection of 365 daily meditations, grouped into 12 chapters, each introducing particular insights derived from quiet time Terrence Douglas spends with the Lord in prayer and meditation. This volume is deeply spiritual and satisfying, challenging readers to listen in stillness for the wisdom contained in the anointed word of God.
"What better way to hear distinctly the Holy Spirit, breathing new life and new beginnings into our lives each day, than to set aside a fraction of time in stillness to listen," Douglas observes. And these are the words from someone who was married for 39 years; lived abroad with his spouse and five children while he served with CIA in Warsaw, Delhi, Beirut, and Berlin; later represented clients in the corporate world in Europe, Saudi Arabia and throughout Asia, serving most recently in Kabul; and now as the director of academics for an on-line university.
"During times of paradigm change, and the unfolding economic and political meltdown, many people will be clamoring to find a way back to spirituality, and a sense of being rather than having. Reading Terry's daily meditations might be a good start for many of those confused and lost souls to refocus their "out-of-joint aura and psyche, and for those who are already there, Terry's meditations are welcome shared thoughts," writes F.B., president of Toronto security management firm.
For nearly 30 years, Terrence Douglas has risen before sunrise to spend time in a quiet place, praising God and seeking His will. Douglas' quiet place has shifted over the years, from a cluster of trees behind his home in Virginia, to a hooch inside a fortified compound in Kabul, Afghanistan, and more recently, to a deck overlooking the ocean on Virginia Beach. Douglas meditates on Scripture, and with his eyes prayerfully closed before the keyboard; he records what he learns from the Holy Spirit. Praying Fingertips is a collection of these meditations, beginning shortly after the sudden death of Donna, his wife of 39 years that was preceded by the death of his father in his arms weeks earlier.
Terrence Douglas, 70, is now a single parent, raising his adopted 14-year-old son in Virginia Beach. He maintains a website begun at the publication of Rules for Engaging Grief: A Path to Healing (http://www.rulesofengaging.com) and has served as the PTA president for his son's middle school, a member of the Patient Family Advisory Council of Sentara Hospital, and a Stephen Minister. Douglas desires to share Scripture with those who might not yet realize that the anointed word of God awaits us all in the present, and is not reserved for, or limited to, scholars to investigate in study hall solitude. Douglas is available for book signings, interviews, and workshops to encourage audiences to open to the Word of God.
