A new interactive blog called thegrilling.com promises to challenge conventional B2B marketing and comes with a warning label: hot. Testing questions will get asked of anyone and everything in B2B marketing. The goal - apart from stirring up conventional thought - is to develop a vibrant conversation which nurtures innovation, questioning and ongoing improvement in this fast-moving sector.
As part of the launch, there's a round table webcast being promoted on the homepage, which features an impressive line-up of speakers who will attempt to make the business case for social media. Looks like that's part of the BrightTALK Social Media Summit on September 24.
On the grill: LaSandra Brill (Manager, Web & Social Media Marketing at Cisco), Michael Brito (Social Media Strategist at Intel and Janice Nall (Director of the Division of eHealth Marketing at the National Center for Health Marketing, part of the US Government's CDC). The round table will be moderated by the blog's founder, Val-Pierre Genton, who has spent the last 10 years in B2B marketing. Looking at the 'Who?' section of the blog and his LinkedIn profile recommendations, we are given enough of a glimpse to appease any doubts of credibility.
Most importantly, thegrilling.com is designed to be community led, with marketers encouraged to get involved by putting themselves, someone else or a 'hot topic' forward to be grilled. This is then put up for vote and the community then decides on the next Grilling. The Grilling happens in good old-fashined text and through live, interactive webcasts which are vendor-neutral and free for marketers to attend. All sessions are recorded for on-demand viewing although the live experience allows you to submit live questions and take part in interactive polls.
If you're involved in B2B marketing, this is where you go to grill, be grilled and sizzle. To get involved, anyone can e-mail vpg at thegrilling dotcom or leave comments on http://www.thegrilling.com.
