With the blog, we'd like to emphasize the advantages of solar power, and being energy efficient and cost efficient are two huge reasons to make the change where possible from electric to solar lighting

"With the way the future is turning, it's in our hands to protect our environment," said Larry Folk. "I think solar power is the way to go; it's a way to help preserve our environment and save money."
Larry Folk and his wife Mari are the founders of http://www.SolarUpNow.com, which launched in November 2008 with the goal of offering affordable solutions for solar powered lighting in and around the home.
The Folks have ambitions of expanding the website as well. "We are planning to expand our website with a more diverse variety of products such as solar cookers and ovens, solar panels, charging units, batteries and a much wider selection of decorative garden lighting options. I want people to know about the options for solar power because there is so much out there we can be utilizing in our daily lives," said Larry.
With the website's launch anniversary approaching, Larry and Mari have decided to celebrate with the addition of a new blog at http://www.GoingGreenWithSolar.com. "Most of our solar lighting is intended for the outdoors, but we'd like to discuss how it can be used indoors as well," said Larry.
"With the blog, we'd like to emphasize the advantages of solar power, and being energy efficient and cost efficient are two huge reasons to make the change where possible from electric to solar lighting," said Larry.
"Solar lights are not like they were back in the 1980's or in 2000. This is 2009 and the technology reflects a much brighter light, longer durability, and easier installation. Where solar power used to be a less efficient technology in terms of both initial cost and upkeep, now it's an overall better option when compared to electricity. Solar energy power from the sun is free - electricity is not," he added.
Solar lighting can serve functional purposes as well, such as lighting dark attics and sheds, home address numbers, driveway and pole markers and more. Solar flashlights and compact portable solar lights are great for home or travel and their batteries never have to be replaced.
"One last word, go green with solar, it's a great way to save the environment and our natural resources, beautify a home and gardens, get light into dark places, save money, and give our children a brighter future - all at the same time," said Larry.
