The Rivanna Resort & Golf Club, the environmentally progressive new development in Fluvanna County, about eight miles from Zion's Crossroads, will be hosting "Rock'n On the Green", a day of golf, art and music to benefit the Rock 'n Renew Foundation (, a non-profit organization that promotes environmental awareness to youth utilizing music & art as the communication medium, on Friday, September 25, 2009.

The benefit will feature a morning golf tournament, an art exhibit and silent auction throughout the day, a green drinks reception and a concert with Sony recording artist and founder of Rock 'n Renew, Jonny Dubowsky of Jonny Lives!

The resort is teaming up with Rock 'n Renew on a number of innovative green projects including an ecology program at the resort that will educate Virginia students on sustainability, water and eco-system conservation and "green" jobs.

Attendees can meet and talk with Jonny Dubowsky of Rock 'n Renew Foundation to find out about how to gain Green-job skills, and to be competitive in the workforce to ensure a job after school. Artist Fred Carrow, who will head up the resort's Monticello Art Center, will be on hand to exhibit his work and discuss future plans for the resort's Art Center.

The Rivanna Resort & Golf Club will incorporate the most ecologically advanced features into its design, construction and operation, including materials election and life cycle assessment of full environmental footprint of all components. Advanced energy and resource conservation systems will be employed, which both reduce consumption and operating costs.

Unique sponsorship opportunities for the event include planting a native tree on site at the resort with a small plaque indicating the planting date and name of your company. A few golf hole sponsorships are also still available. The cost for a 4-some is $200 and includes golf, cart, range balls, catered lunch and a sustainable goody bag.
