Cielo MedSolutions LLC, a leading provider of clinical quality management systems for ambulatory care providers and MyCareTeam, a provider of diabetes management solutions, today announced a partnership to provide a unique solution for managing patients with diabetes.
Through this partnership, MyCareTeam's award-winning solution for remotely monitoring glucose levels across the Internet will be connected to Cielo Clinic, allowing providers to receive a patient's home-measured glucose readings directly into Cielo Clinic's registry. Providers will also be able to directly enroll patients in MCT-Diabetes, a patient-facing web-based diabetes management tool.
Dave Morin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cielo noted "We feel strongly that the data from home devices, like glucose meters, needs to get in the hands of care providers. We're excited to be able to offer this unique connectivity into our registry. This sort of functionality is important in a high-performing patient-centered medical home."
"Extending our data into other solutions makes MCT-Diabetes even more valuable", said James Mingle, CEO of MyCareTeam, "Cielo's solution for disease management is a natural destination for the data that we are collecting, and our diabetes management tool is a great extension of the work being done by Cielo Clinic."
A recent study published in the May 2009 issue of Diabetes Science and Technology has shown that an increase in patient-health care practitioner (HCP) interaction is linked to the successful treatment and management of diabetes. When managing diabetes using software products like MCT-Diabetes to modify behavior, patients generally enjoy better health than those who do not. In fact, the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) study at the National Institute of Health (NIH) demonstrated that individuals with Type 1 diabetes who maintain normal blood glucose levels can slow the onset and progression of eye, kidney, and nerve diseases caused by diabetes.
MyCareTeam, Inc. was founded to provide software offerings that are designed to help people with diabetes to collaborate and manage their illness while reducing overall healthcare costs. The company's diabetes offering, MCT-Diabetes, has been successfully used for over five years by patients, doctors and nurses to dramatically improve the health and wellness in people with diabetes and reduce overall healthcare costs. MyCareTeam is headquartered in Acton, Massachusetts and the company's website is http://www.mycareteam.com.
MyCareTeam recently announced integration of MCT-Diabetes with Google Health. Google Health allows consumers to enter and maintain their own basic medical data and electronically send that information to systems which are connected to Google Health. MyCareTeam's diabetes management software, MCT-Diabetes, integrated with Google Health, will allows consumers to securely transfer diabetes related information to and from the Google Health medical data repository. The data can be transferred to any other medical applications that are also integrated with Google Health.
