This is an exciting year for Gap International to be sponsoring the Fortune's Most Powerful Women in Business Summit. Gap International was started by a woman named Pontish Yeramyan, in 1978 at a time when there weren't nearly as many woman in leadership roles as there are today. To see how far women have come in the business world is inspirational. When Pontish began the company, she created a goal to Transform Organizations Transform the World. The theme for this year's Summit is "Betting on the Future" and with Gap International's goal of Transforming the World, sponsoring this summit could not be more appropriate.
Gap International not only agrees that Betting on the Future is an appropriate theme given the state of the world, but that the very existence of this Summit is, Creating the Future. The summit's impressive line-up of keynote speakers and unique format, mark an extraordinary moment-in-time where ultimately the paradigm of global business could shift indefinitely. Sharing ideas and discussing key challenges amongst this group of the most powerful women in business will surely create new distinctions in leadership, spur innovation and economic growth.
This year's Summit also marks the first time that participants and speakers will have the opportunity to post their thoughts and reactions via Twitter. The freedom to share thoughts and ideas, especially when dealing with a topic of this magnitude, represents a shift in how we view communication and the sharing of content and ideas.
Over the last 6 months, Pontish Yeramyan, has been using Twitter to lead conversations for possibility in the world. This conference is another example of how that goal can be achieved. During the conference Pontish (@pontish) will be tweeting thoughts and reactions live. Gap International is encouraging the use of this technology to expand and build on the conversations and ideas flowing at this summit. Please contribute using the hashtag #mpwsummit or follow the conversation online using Twitter Search.
