Compass Knowledge Group, a premier provider of distance learning services, has partnered with the University of New England (UNE) to offer its Master of Social Work (MSW) degree program online to professionals working in the field of Social Work and those who wish to enter the field of social work. Classes started August 31, 2009.

"Our online learning services, partnered with UNE's high quality academics, allow Social Workers or those who desire to enter the field of Social Work to earn their master's degree while they continue working," said Dan Devine, Compass Knowledge Group's Founder and CEO. "Technology plays an important role in the delivery of educational opportunities. Online course delivery takes away geographical boundaries and enables faculty to deliver high quality instruction to students worldwide," he added.

"We have designed this program so working professionals can have a high quality graduate education experience in the convenience of their home or workplace, in their own community," said School Director, Martha Wilson, Ph.D., DSW. "The program offers social workers, as well as professionals who want to enter the field of social work, the opportunity to have a voice for the less fortunate and be an activist for social justice."

The online MSW marks the first time UNE students entering the program can earn their degree without traveling to campus. The degree is 64 credits; 32 are foundation credits and 32 are advanced coursework, with three enrollment intakes per year in the fall, spring and summer. Students are required to complete all field practica, under faculty supervision, through a qualified MSW preceptor in their local community. Advanced standing is offered for individuals who have received a social work baccalaureate degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) -accredited program within the past seven years. The online program is part of a school accredited by the CSWE*.
