Co-ed Grass Volleyball Event, Delray Beach, FL

The Florida Region of USA Volleyball will be co-hosting a co-ed grass volleyball event with Atlantic Community High School on September 26th, 2009. So, get ready because it's time to kick some grass for Charity!

Today, the Florida Region of USA Volleyball is proud to announce a new grass volleyball tournament in Delray Beach. So, bring your sneakers, sunscreen and game-face because it's time to Kick Some Grass for charity! Partnering with the Florida Region of USA Volleyball are the local schools and club volleyball teams. The event will serve as a fundraiser for both local schools and club team, as well as the Florida Region of USA Volleyball's Scholarship Fund. The Florida Region Scholarship Fund started dispersing scholarship money to high school athletes in the spring of 2006. Scholarships are given to high school seniors that are members of the Florida Region of USA Volleyball. The scholarship fund also provides scholarship money for the High Performance All-star program to assist the athletes with travel related expenses. A total of $10,000 has been raised since 2006.

The Corporate Volleyball Challenge event will include both recreational and competitive playing divisions for adult players. The tournament will take place on Saturday, September 26th, 2009 at Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach. Team check-in will begin at 8:30a and play will begin at 9:30a. Teams will participate in pool play during the morning matches and then a single elimination playoff in the afternoon. Preliminary projections suggest that over 45 teams will compete on as many as 12 outdoor nets at Atlantic Community High School. Prizes will be presented to the winners in each division.

Teams in the competitive division will consist of 4 players per team and are required to have 1 female on the court during play. The team fee for competitive teams will be $200 for regular registration and $300 for "VIP" registration. Teams in the recreational division will consist of 6 players per team and are required to have 2 females on the court during play. The team fee for recreational teams will be $300 for regular registration and $450 for "VIP" registration. VIP teams will be provided with t-shirts, as well as lunch and drinks throughout the tournament. About Atlantic Community High School:
Atlantic Community High School is a public high school located in Delray Beach, Florida. It is part of the School District of Palm Beach County. It is known for its International Baccalaureate magnet program and for its academics in general. The school was listed 57th in the high-school ranking of Newsweek, in 2004, 18th in 2005 and 25th in 2006. In 2005, the school relocated and added a freshman academy and a Construction oriented magnet program.
