There are more women in leadership today than ever before and research shows that organizations with more women in top postions perform better on financial measurements. This very likely reflects the differences between women and men's leadership styles. Sharon Hadary releases the top ten characteristics of successful women in business based on 20 years of research.

Dr. Sharon Hadary, former and founding executive director of the Center for Women's Business Research, will release for the first time her "Top Ten Characteristics of Successful Women in Business" as part of her keynote presentation at the Highly Empowered Women Conference in St. Louis, Mo. on Saturday, September 26.

"Today there are more women in leadership positions in the U.S. than ever before in our history," said Sharon Hadary, now Principal at Sharon Hadary & Co. "Research documents that the corporations with the highest representation of women in senior positions reported 35% higher return on investment (ROI) and 34% higher total return to shareholders (TRS) than those with the fewest women in leadership."

"This is very likely due in great part to the differences between women and men's leadership styles," Hadary continued. "Women take a longer term perspective than men rather than racing for immediate returns; they create more diverse teams; and they are more likely to include employees in decision making."

"At a time when our nation is struggling with economic recovery, these leadership styles which emphasize ideas and collaboration over production and procedure are vital," she concludes.

Hadary has built on the research she conducted at the Center for Women's Business Research with thousands of women across the country. She combined this databased knowledge and her years of personal experience with leading women entrepreneurs and executives to develop the top ten characteristics of successful women in business. These characteristics provide a proven, practical pathway to professional and personal success for women leaders in business, community, and government.

Hadary has been a leader in creating social change for women for over two decades through her work at the Center for Women's Business Research. She is recognized for harnessing the transformational impact of data to alter forever the landscape for women business owners in access to capital, markets, expertise, and networks.

Today, she continues her passion and work on behalf of women in business as Principal of Sharon Hadary & Co., moving her primary focus from conducting research to inspiring women to achieve their full potential as leaders.
