About The Henry Leavenworth Chapter of the AUSA.
The Henry Leavenworth Chapter is one of the oldest chapters in AUSA. We proudly bear the name of the officer who established Fort Leavenworth in 1827: Colonel Henry Leavenworth, who clearly recognized the military value of these high bluffs along the western side of Missouri River. Once a crossroads to the American frontier, today Fort Leavenworth is on the leading edge of the Army's future, housing not only Command and General Staff College but also the Combined Arms Center. We are very proud of our close relationship with the Fort over the past 50 years. In 2008, we established the HOOAH (Helping Our Own At Home) program to facilitate and assist wounded service members (of all branches of the military) and their families work through issues they may encounter in obtaining support they may need from the community. We have over 500 individual members and 29 Corporate Members. In the past we have sponsored the Army Ten Miler team, High School ROTC programs, and a host of other events here in the city of Leavenworth.
