New title stresses the importance of giving to the kingdom of God

In tough economic times such as these, the first thing many people do is cut back on giving. But what people need to remember is that they are kingdom people; there is no recession in the kingdom of God. When they give, the kingdom gives back! Xulon Press author Ricardo Mercado's new release, Tithes and Offering: Lessons in Giving for Children and Youth Ministries ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-61579-197-2), offers timely lesson plans and teachings on tithes and offerings that will help readers with their church and ministry.

Says Mercado, "Giving is the opportunity that God has given each of us to show our obedience to His Word. When we give to the kingdom of God, the windows of heaven will open and His blessing will fall upon us. Don't tithe to be blessed; tithe because you're already blessed!"

The author, a teacher in the children's ministry, first began studying tithes and offerings after he was told by his ministry leader to collect them at a Friday night meeting--and made a mess of things. From that moment on, the author began to study and learn, taking notes and using his research as guidance for a set of lesson plans that evolved into short stories he used as examples for his students. It was not long before he added a puppet skit to help illustrate the stories as they unfolded, and a website to spotlight these carefully crafted lesson plans. With this book, he hopes to further his ministry of "Tithes and Offering."

"We, like many others in this world, are faithful givers," he explains. "We don't give out of obligation or guilt, nor do we give to get back. We give because the Word of God says we must."
