XLCubed was looking for a writeable OLAP engine to embed into its XLCubed Planning offering and assessed many in the market. In terms of performance, functionality, and completeness of the API, the PowerOLAP engine was felt to be best in class.
Doylestown, PA (PRWEB) September 22, 2009
PARIS Technologies (paristech.com), a global provider of Business Intelligence and Business Performance Management software, and XLCubed (xlcubed.com/en/), the leading global independent provider of Excel-based Reporting and Analysis tools for Microsoft Analysis Services, today announced a business partnership to fill the Planning solution gap left by Microsoft earlier this year with the suspended development of its PerformancePoint suite.
The PARIS - XLCubed partnership meets the planning needs of small and mid-sized companies' business users and satisfies the requirements of IT staffs with a scalable and affordable solution, which can be implemented in weeks instead of months.
PowerOLAP dynamically connects back-end databases to Excel. Now, with this partnership, PowerOLAP also connects to XLCubed Excel and to Web browsers using the XLCubed Web Edition user interface. Data is accessible in real time as it is written into underlying applications.
The PowerOLAP engine also provides Excel and XLCubed users with Budgeting, Forecasting, Reporting, Analysis, Consolidation, and Business Intelligence capabilities.
Charley Kyd, president of exceluser.com, said that this partnership brings three significant benefits to Excel users in business. "First, it gives Excel users an inexpensive and powerful way to deliver interactive spreadsheet reports to the Web. Second, it provides a simple way for anyone with a Web browser and the right password to write budgets, forecasts, and other data to a planning database from anywhere in the world. And third, it allows Excel users to realize these benefits with little or no help from the IT department."
David Presti, president of PARIS Technologies International, Inc., offered additional detail: "While PARIS had Web access before, the XLCubed Web Edition brings significantly more capabilities, with a zero footprint," he said. "Users can publish a standard Excel spreadsheet as a Web page. The Web page is dynamic and allows users to drill down, slice and dice data, drag and drop columns and rows, and imbed Microcharts."
"We are excited to provide XLCubed customers with an opportunity to leverage their existing investment in Microsoft Analysis Services to deliver Budgeting, Planning, Forecasting, and Modeling capabilities," Presti added. "XLCubed was looking for a writeable OLAP engine to embed into its XLCubed Planning offering and assessed many in the market. In terms of performance, functionality, and completeness of the API, the PowerOLAP engine was felt to be best in class."
"PARIS and XLCubed have worked closely together throughout 2009," said Mark Scanlon, founder and CEO of XLCubed. "It is apparent that the synergies between our organizations and products are significant. Hence we are also pleased to announce that both XLCubed Excel and Web Edition are now available for PowerOLAP customers, thus providing them with significant and effective Excel and Web user interfaces."
