It might seem crazy to pass on this offer, but I was very passionate and emotional about creating my tribute to Michael. I kept saying no to the offer and it kept going higher. I'm not interested in selling at this time but I'm confident that when I'm ready to part with the original painting, there will be a buyer out there!

Dick Zimmerman, famed portrait artist and creator of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" cover and Painter of his Homage to Michael Jackson titled HOMAGEKOP8/15, which was recently unveiled Friday, September 18th nationally on Entertainment Tonight, has turned down an offer from an undisclosed art memorabilia collector from the United Kingdom offering to purchase the original tribute painting to Jackson for $1.8 Million.

Zimmerman indicated, "I'm not ready to part with my symbolic painting as it was created as a tribute to the late Jackson who I highly respected. My painting tells a symbolic story of my personal respect for Michael and our association throughout the 15 years that Michael and I collaborated on three separate projects."

The montage painting was created using reference photographs taken from the three projects Zimmerman worked on with Jackson. The homage includes the centerpiece "Thriller" cover which Zimmerman created in 1982, the 1994 wedding portraits with Lisa Marie Presley and the E.T. album cover that Jackson narrated for Stephen Spielberg in 1984. The images are strategically positioned with symbolic meaning behind all elements that signify the story of Michael's physical changes, some of his fascinations and his personality as Dick Zimmerman remembers.

Zimmerman stated, "It might seem crazy to pass on this offer, but I was very passionate and emotional about creating my tribute to Michael. I kept saying no to the offer and it kept going higher. I'm not interested in selling at this time but I'm confident that when I'm ready to part with the original painting, there will be a buyer out there!"

Zimmerman's tribute homage, titled HOMAGEKOP8/15 is defined as, Homage King of Pop and signifies the eight times Zimmerman collaborated or socialized with Michael over a 15 year period.
The painting is 40"x 44" Oil on canvas and on display at http://www.dickzimmerman.com
