Proshred and Costco Wholesale will be hosting a community Proshred-a-Thon on Saturday, September 26, 2009, from 10am to 2pm at Costco Wholesale's parking lot at 2655 Gulf to Bay Blvd, Clearwater. Local residents and business owners are invited to help prevent identity theft by bringing their obsolete documents to Costco where Proshred will have one of their specially designed shredding trucks on site to destroy documents. All proceeds will support the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce's Not-For-Profit Business Council.

Attendees are invited to watch as their documents are instantly destroyed by one of Proshred's massive, high speed destruction machines. After the destroyed documents are turned into confetti, they are then recycled.

Identity fraud is the fastest growing non-violent crime in America. Impacting nearly 9 million victims each year, close to 75% of cases are a result of paper documents getting into the wrong hands. Proper destruction of confidential documents is a critical step in ensuring that you, your family members and your customers don't become victims. Other items that can be shredded are computer disks, credit cards and ATM cards.
