Steven Melanson, son of PK Walsh President Nikki Walsh, has watched his mother battle Crohn's disease for as long as he can remember. Ms. Walsh's first attack happened when she was pregnant with Steven nine years ago and resulted in an emergency C-section and a long hospital stay. Throughout Steven's short life, he's watched his mother endure countless doctor's visits, procedures and hospitalizations as a result of her disease - all while she has continued to help run a successful family business.

Steven decided to create a shampoo by combining several products used by his mother and sister. "I wanted to do something fun and help my mom at the same time," says Steven. His shampoos sell for $5 a bottle and his mother can't keep them on the salon shelves.

"Steven's grown up as the son of a salon owner who happens to suffer from Crohn's disease," says Ms. Walsh. "I am so proud of how he has taken both of these experiences and combined them into something so positive."

Steven is donating all proceeds to Playing for Life Foundation, a non-profit that the Walsh family has founded recently to help sufferers of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, specifically children.
