MedAssets and Swisslog renew agreement to offer hospital members contracted pricing on pharmacy automation solutions

Swisslog, a leading provider of pneumatic tube systems and pharmacy automation solutions for hospitals, announces the contract renewal with MedAssets Supply Chain Systems for its unique central pharmacy automation products, PillPick® and BoxPicker.

The contract renewal, effective September 1, provides substantial price discounts from standard Swisslog prices. MedAssets partners with hospitals and health systems to enhance their financial performance through improved operating margins and cash flow.

Swisslog's PillPick pharmacy automation system provides a comprehensive approach from unit dose packaging through medication dispensing. It utilizes bar-code technology to improve the pharmacy's productivity and enhance patient safety.

Only PillPick offers PickRing, a unique patented assembly of unit dose medications on a ring for "patient-day" or cabinet-specific medication administration. The ability of Swisslog's solution to simultaneously process cart fill orders with either first doses, stats, returns or packaging requests is a key differentiator when compared with other pharmacy robots. The PillPick system complements cart fill, cabinet, and hybrid distribution methods.

Swisslog's BoxPicker is a high-density, automated pharmacy warehouse for the storage and secure dispensing of medications and supplies -- an ideal alternative to carousels. New this year, the BoxPicker's refrigeration option eliminates the need for pharmacy refrigerators while increasing security with automated storage and dispensing of refrigerated medications. BoxPicker communicates with other hospital information systems to assure accuracy, proper billing, and track and trace control of individual medications.
