She has the perfect set of skills and experience to build TerraPass into a major presence in both voluntary and compliance carbon markets.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 24, 2009
TerraPass Inc.TM, a leading originator and retailer of carbon credits and carbon offsets, today announced that Erin Craig has accepted the company's offer to serve as its Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, and to join the TerraPass board of directors.
Under Erin's leadership, the TerraPass Carbon Management Services team has contracted with more than 20 US-based carbon credit projects, has listed more projects with the Climate Action Registry (CAR) than any other US-based originator, and has consistently blazed a trail in developing the US carbon offset market.
"Erin has established herself as one of the leading authorities on the US carbon markets in her role as the President of our Carbon Management Services business," said Erik Blachford, who is stepping out of the CEO role to become Executive Chairman at TerraPass. "She has the perfect set of skills and experience to build TerraPass into a major presence in both voluntary and compliance carbon markets."
Erin Craig brings over 20 years' experience in the environmental and public policy fields as a regulator, consultant, and corporate leader. During her tenure at Sun Microsystems she collaborated with hardware, software and packaging teams to develop design standards for energy efficiency, hazardous constituents reduction, labeling, and end-of-life management. She also represented Sun in a variety of policy debates, and chaired the Electronic Industries Association's Environmental Committee, a leading trade association in the advocacy of public policy positions concerning energy use and hazardous materials in computer hardware. In the early 1990s, Erin worked for Apple Computer and was responsible for the company's efforts to rid supplies of ozone-depleting substances.
Erin earned an MS in Technology and Policy from MIT, a BS in Geophysics from Stanford University, and a Six Sigma Master Black Belt from Sun Microsystems.
"I'm thrilled to take on this opportunity at this pivotal time in the development of the US carbon market," said Erin Craig, new CEO, TerraPass Inc. "I'm excited to continue building the leading portfolio of US-based carbon offset projects in the world."
The TerraPass Carbon Management Services team focuses on originating U.S.-based projects such as landfill and agricultural methane abatement efforts, and is expanding into related methodologies. Credits from the portfolio will be used both to satisfy TerraPass' retail carbon offset purchase obligations and to help companies in the voluntary and pre-compliance carbon markets achieve their carbon footprint management goals. More information on TerraPass Carbon Management Services is also available, at TerraPass Carbon Management Services.
Carbon credits issued from the TerraPass portfolio will be offered directly to wholesale purchasers and included in the TerraPass retail carbon offset portfolio, including products for purchase through the TerraPass website (http://www.terrapass.com), and through partners including Expedia®, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car.
Details of all TerraPass projects are available at TerraPass.com.
