SummitPacific: New St. Regis Hotel is Good News for Vacation Rental Owners on Kauai

SummitPacific.com's large selection of vacation rental properties in Princeville is expected to benefit from the opening of the New St. Regis Princeville hotel in Kauai, Hawaii.

Hanalei Bay Resort is located next to the new St. Regis Princeville Hotel and shares the same beach.

The past couple of years have been especially hard for those in the travel industry. Properties in Princeville have had the added problem of also having the hotel closed during this time. Just having the hotel back open will be a big help because it's an important amenity for Princeville.

Owners of Kauai vacation rental condos and homes like those featured on SummitPacific.com are excited to see the St. Regis Princeville finally open on Kauai next week. After waiting through nearly 2 years of recession and putting up with noise and construction, Princeville condo owners next door to the new hotel are expecting it to help fill vacancies and raise their property values too.

Formerly known as the Princeville Hotel, the oceanfront property on Hanalei Bay, considered by many to be one of the most picturesque pieces of real estate in Hawaii, has undergone an extensive 2 year, 40 million dollar renovation to bring it up to the St. Regis standard of ultra-luxury. Much of this construction has been done at a time when the hotel would probably rather have been closed anyway. Low visitor nights and fewer people visiting the islands because of the recession would have been a slow time for the hotel anyway. But condo owners and other resorts on Kauai, many of which advertise on web sites like SummitPacific.com, have remained open, waiting for things to get better.

The long awaited grand opening of the hotel is set for October 1st. To celebrate, the St. Regis is offering packaged specials which include free rounds of golf and other outdoor adventures, or free package deals at their spa and restaurant. But with room rates starting around $460 and going up to almost $6000 per night it is expected that the St. Regis will mostly be marketing those rooms to the rich and famous. That makes renting a condo next door at a fraction of the price look pretty attractive. Condo owners who advertise their Kauai vacation rentals on SummitPacific expect to be able to attract the guests who want a great place to stay but aren't necessarily willing to spend the big bucks next door.

SummitPacific features plenty of alternative condos, resorts, and Kauai vacation homes around Princeville which now seem like fantastic bargains compared to the St. Regis.

Next door to the hotel, sharing the same beach and spectacular views is Hanalei Bay Resort. Built as a condo/hotel in the 1980s Hanalei Bay Resort is already well known for its relaxing atmosphere and gorgeous views of Hanalei Bay and famous Bali Hai sunsets. But here instead of a hotel room you can get a spacious condo suite - complete with a full size kitchen starting around $250 night. No, it's not the St. Regis, but what difference does that make when you're on the beach?

Sitting on the other side of the new hotel, is Puu Poa. Long known as Princeville's premier luxury condos, you can get a luxury two bedroom unit here with a spacious and private oceanfront lanai for around $300 a night through SummitPacific. Guests staying in these condos can walk next door to the St. Regis to eat dinner and rub shoulders with the rich and famous. Of course they also have the option to stay in their condo and cook dinner in their own kitchen. They can vacation in the same setting as the St. Regis, stay longer and still spend less.

One condo owner at Puu Poa said he is excited to see the St. Regis open so he can have the best of both worlds. He can stay in his condo and still easily visit the fine restaurants next door. "We're planning to be there for the Grand Opening and we wish them well, we just won't be spending the night."

Other nearby condos resorts featured on SummitPacific include Sealodge for under $200 per night and slightly higher rates at Pali Ke Kua. Both are within walking distance from the St. Regis.

It's about time condo owners had some good news says SummitPacific president Doug Porter. "The past couple of years have been especially hard for those in the travel industry. Properties in Princeville have had the added problem of also having the hotel closed during this time. Just having the hotel back open will be a big help because it's an important amenity for Princeville."

Just in time for the St. Regis opening, Hawaii is starting to notice an uptick in visitor arrivals too. That's good news for the hotel which will open with 252 guest rooms and 51 suites, four restaurants, several boutiques and shops, and a 10,000-square foot Spa and fitness center.

"Opening the hotel now is a bold move to be sure but they had their plans and financing already in place before the economy tanked and were able to do their construction while tourism was down. They're opening now just as people are starting to think about taking a Hawaii vacation again", says Porter.

It is a good time to visit Kauai. Airline ticket prices are low and SummitPacific also offers great deals on Hawaii car rentals with lower rates on cars from several companies such as Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Dollar, and Enterprise than you can get by going through these companies yourself.

The opening of the St. Regis is good news for everyone. For the traveler that wants the prestige of staying in the St. Regis, Princeville now has it. But for those that are looking for a great deal on great accommodations, you can find them on SummitPacific.com."
