Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) September 30, 2009
TDCI, Inc. (TDCI), the leading provider of configurator-based software solutions and a Microsoft ISV partner, announced today immediate availability of BuyDesign Configurator integrated with the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. BuyDesign Configurator is a highly intuitive product configurator that makes it easy to capture product knowledge in the form of product rules and constraints. It guides users through product or order specification, calculates pricing, and optionally generates a wide range of configuration-specific outputs such as manufacturing bills of material and routings, drawings, CAD models, documents and more. Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a comprehensive business management solution that helps people work faster and smarter. As part of the Microsoft Dynamics family of enterprise applications, it has established itself as a choice for mid-sized organizations looking for a complete ERP solution that is fast to implement, easy to configure, and simple to use.
BuyDesign Configurator for Microsoft Dynamics NAV is registered and available from Microsoft as a series of optional add-ons for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1versions. It is compatible with both the classic user interface and the role-based client (RTC) user interface. It is available as a sales configurator with or without kitting capabilities with the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Business Essentials edition, and as an advanced sales and manufacturing configurator with Microsoft Dynamics NAV Advanced Management and Advanced Management Enterprise editions.
"BuyDesign Configurator is a strong add-on for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. It further enhances Microsoft Dynamics NAV for companies that require sales configuration and sell products produced on a kit-to-order, assemble-to-order, configure-to-order, or engineer-to-order basis," says Jan Sillemann, Director, Microsoft Dynamics NAV Product Management.
Kathy Nohr, Microsoft Dynamics NAV Global Product Manager at Tectura, a Microsoft Dynamics partner that worked with TDCI to develop the standard integration and has joined TDCI's BuyDesign partner network, added: "The addition of the BuyDesign product configurator extends the range of companies for which Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a good fit. We're excited about what we can now deliver as a solution for make-to-order companies."
Other Microsoft Dynamics VAR partners who have already joined TDCI's BuyDesign partner network include Symbiant Technologies, SCI, and ABC Computers. David S. Hutchinson, Symbiant CEO and a member of the Microsoft Dynamics Executive VAR Council said: "In addition to its flexibility and product modeling power, BuyDesign Configurator has a highly intuitive, visual user interface. Its options for automated generation of drawings, CAD models and rendered images go well beyond anything previously available to Microsoft Dynamics NAV users."
In stating the value of an advanced product configurator, Gartner Research VP for SMB Business Applications, Bob Anderson, says: "When it comes to product configuration solutions, midsize businesses are looking for a rich user experience that cuts down on complexity, as well as strong performance and advanced features… that minimize the upfront effort required while delivering powerful results."
One of the companies that is already implementing BuyDesign Configurator with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is Lippert Components, a US-based manufacturer of components for the recreational vehicle (RV) and manufactured home markets. Seth DeBriere, Lippert Director of IT Applications says: "The BuyDesign product configurator gives us a practical way to capture the knowledge about (our) products into easily-maintained product models we can use to guide order entry, ensure valid products, and generate manufacturing information. For Lippert, using a product configurator will significantly reduce the time and effort currently involved in maintaining hundreds of different BOMs and routings. It will also eliminate the errors all that data maintenance inevitably causes."
"We're excited to be working with Microsoft, their customers, and their partners within the Dynamics world," said Dan DeMuth, TDCI President. "And we are very happy to further expand the range of ERP systems in which our BuyDesign solution is integrated. BuyDesign is now available with many of the most widely used mid-market ERP systems, including multiple solutions in the Microsoft Dynamics family, multiple Infor manufacturing and distribution solutions, and other leading ERP platforms."
