It opens up lines of communications to anyone who currently uses VHF in ways one cannot imagine.

Delta Wave Communications, Inc. is pleased to announce that they will be demonstrating the new Thrane and Thrane EXPLORER Link technology at their outdoor booth at the upcoming LAGCOE energy exhibition, taking place October 27-29, in Lafayette, LA. They will introduce the technology at the upcoming ATCE2009 conference in New Orleans held from Oct. 4-7th.

The EXPLORER Link system is Thrane and Thrane's hardware solution for creating Wide Area VHF Networks. At current stage, the system is a concept prototype consisting of intrinsically safe handheld radios with GPS, IP enabled VHF base stations, EXPLORER terminals and a centrally placed switch (server). The system will also work with the new maritime hardware such as FleetBroadband and also through VSAT networks.

The system connects multiple VHF base stations though IP networking to enable VHF handhelds to communicate over the internet to other radios in remote locations and base stations, or even to dial into the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

Delta Wave Communications is working in conjunction with Thrane and Thrane, and Stratos Mobile Networks, their mobile satellite channel partner in introducing this cutting edge solution to the Oil and Gas Industry. Additionally, EXPLORER Link is ideal for government rescue services, NGO's working in remote areas/disaster areas without working traditional communications infrastructures or large enterprises (e.g. oil & gas, mining industry, survey operations, etc.) with complex communications needs.

The demonstration at LAGCOE will incorporate a network via the use of VHF handhelds, the base unit, in conjunction with a VHF "cloud" that will be located on the East Coast utilizing the same technology.

Tom Clark, President and CEO of Delta Wave says, "This will represent a major paradigm shift in communications on a global scale, and is unprecedented. We are very excited to be in position to offer this new technology and service to our current customers, as well as others who will see the immediate benefits. It opens up lines of communications to anyone who currently uses VHF in ways one cannot imagine."

He adds, "Delta Wave Communications will also be providing a secure on-line mapping solution for the technology - dTrac for what will be branded as their new SATNET service . dTrac is a web based mapping solution whereby customers will be able to group assets and have full control over how their assets are viewed on-line. It currently provides a comprehensive global mapping solution for their customers utilizing Iridium satellite services."

A variety of service plans are made available, providing cost-effective solutions for land based operations and marine vessels operating on a global basis, whether the requirement is for primary or backup communications applications.
