This month we'll release new versions with more slightly demented details on our characters and storyline
Omaha, Nebraska (PRWEB) September 29, 2009
The publishers of Battle Bears, the wildly popular mock-violent digital game announced today that it has reached one million paid and free downloads on the Apple iTunes App Store.
The game, which was developed by CORALINE animator Benjamin Vu's new upstart Omaha-based production company SkyVu Productions (http://www.skyvu.net) offers adorable animation, a tongue-in-cheek theme and intense bear-on-bear battle action. Launched August 31st, and available exclusively for iPhone and iPod Touch, BATTLE BEARS went to Top Ten Apps (http://asterisk.tmcnet.com/news/2009/09/23/4386176.htm ) on iTunes in just seven days and has remained in the top Paid Apps and Action/Adventure Games despite stiff competition.
At one million downloads, Battle Bears is comparable to the number of downloads from the entire Palm App Catalog (http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/20090624/1-million-palm-pre-apps-downloaded/) through JUne 2009. And Battle Bears has topped nearly all the 16,000 "great games" credited for the success of the Apple Apps.
The object of the new game is to kill cuddly pink teddy bears who attempt to commit "huggacide" with deadly embraces to OLIVER, an advanced robotic teddy bear with a lot of attitude. Click for a sample of the game action: http://www.battlebears.com/game/.
The game has received strong reviews from gaming outlets and top positions in the App Store international markets as well. Currently, SkyVu Productions is in talks with Top Five game publishers concerning licensing rights for the popular game. "This month we'll release new versions with more slightly demented details on our characters and storyline," says writer/director and SkyVu Co-founder Benjamin Vu.
Starting October 2nd, Vu will meet with high-level industry executives at the MIPCOM and MIPJUNIOR in Cannes, France to discuss future plans and licensing opportunities.
BATTLE BEARS™ is available for 99 cents for a limited time on the iTunes App Store. Also available is a free, shorter version of BATTLE BEARS that allows players to try out the game at no charge.
