Participating in the rides and supporting Norwood has been an incredible experience for me these past six years, encompassing an adventure, an intense personal challenge and the satisfaction of knowing we're supporting a charity integral to so many disadvantaged people and their families
London (PRWEB) October 6, 2009
A five-member team from The Albany Group, including its founder, Martin Glick, will join 150 other participants this November in cycling over 500km in 5.5 days through Northern India to raise money for Norwood.
Not only will cycling on tough terrain be an incredibly physical challenge, but Albany is also committed to the greater challenge of raising money. On a trip lasting a total of 10 days, cyclists will begin the charity ride through the state of Rajasthan on 1st November, ending in the capital city of Jaipur on 6th November, 2009.
Norwood supports thousands of children, families and adults in the UK coping with learning disabilities and social disadvantage, providing them with vital, specialised support to meet their individual needs. This gives them the opportunity to reach their potential and live life to the full.
While it is an established UK charity with over 200 years of history, many of Norwood's services receive little or no public funding. As a result, fundraising is a lifeline to the organisation.
This is the sixth time Martin has participated, but it is the first time he will be joined by an entire team of Albany cyclists, including Sarah Morrey, Chris Garlick, Mark Goosen and Howard Glick.
"Participating in the rides and supporting Norwood has been an incredible experience for me these past six years, encompassing an adventure, an intense personal challenge and the satisfaction of knowing we're supporting a charity integral to so many disadvantaged people and their families," said Martin Glick.
"The temperature and humidity makes for a gruelling ride at times. Yet it's gratifying to know that our efforts are not just for a good story, but really go to help others."
With Team Albany's participation, Albany will also be increasing its fundraising efforts. The company invites individuals and organizations across the globe to sponsor them as they take part in the Challenge, and help make a difference in many lives.
