Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) October 1, 2009
Streaming live on the Voice America Network (http://www.voiceamerica.com) on Wednesday, October 7 at 2 p.m. Pacific time/5 p.m. Eastern time, William Horden talks with host Christina Pratt about the Toltec I Ching on her show "Why Shamanism Now? A Practical Path to Authenticity." The I Ching, or "Book of Changes", of ancient China has been used for over 5000 years as a source of advice and inspiration. According to Horden, the Toltec I Ching recasts the I Ching in the symbology of ancient, native Mexico, and focuses us on an ethic, desperately needed today, of cooperation in the emerging world culture. Horden refers to the Toltec I Ching as "The Oracle", and explains to listeners why we should bother with a new divination tool at this time. Horden is the co-creator, along with Martha Ramirez-Oropeza, of The Toltec I Ching: 64 Keys to Inspired Action in the New World, newly released by Larson Publications. According to Toltec Master Allan Hardman, "The Toltec I Ching does an incredible job of engaging the collective human experience of psychological defeat and the Spirit Warrior's task of restoring personal power and transforming that dream. It will help many people move away from the Old World of force and competition toward the New World of ethics and cooperation..."
Horden notes in this episode of "Why Shamanism Now?" that divination tools can guide us into our own spiritual warriorship and its expression in our daily actions. In the Toltec I Ching, Ramirez-Oropeza's stunning artwork illuminates the wisdom of the ancients while Horden's lucid text unlocks the divinatory power of these two world traditions. Horden says that The Oracle" "inspires us to see more clearly, live more creatively, and love more fully." Pratt and Horden" ask The Oracle "What do people need to know today to transform from wherever they are into people of courageous hearts?" and explore the answer.
Christina Pratt is an authentic, non-traditional contemporary shaman. In practice since 1990, she specializes in mending the soul and transforming the parts of life that feel impossible. William Douglas Horden has been an independent researcher of the indigenous divinatory systems of ancient China and Mexico for the past forty years. He lived in the Copper Canyon of Mexico with the Tarahumara Indians for two years and numerous other indigenous communities over the past few decades, allowing him to become steeped in the shamanic world view. Horden was initially trained by I Ching Master Khigh Alx Dhiegh. He is currently a writer, photographer, and lecturer living in Roseburg, Oregon and Coatepec, Mexico.
