McAllister Software Systems, creators of the industry-leading AVImark veterinary software, hosted its annual AVImark User Group conference Sept. 16 - 18 in St. Louis, MO. More than 180 veterinarians and staff members attended, representing 116 clinics from around the world. The conference also featured booths from 18 of AVImark's 40 integration partners, including IDEXX Laboratories, Lifelearn, and Antech Diagnostics.

"I brought two of my employees who are fairly well versed in AVImark, and the conference was extremely beneficial for all three of us," said Dr. Gwenn Freitag of Lacroix Pet Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. "The speakers were excellent - knowledgeable, easy to understand, helpful, and personable - and we especially liked hearing from management consultants on how to use AVImark to increase profits. We can't wait until the next AVImark User Group in 2010!"

Attendees received up to nine C.E. credits for sessions ranging from basic AVImark software skills to advanced practice management principles, including:

  • Profitability, productivity, and practice value (part of the AVImark Practice Builder® service, taught by Practice Management Consultant Dr. Martin Miller)
  • Client Communication (marketing, reminder strategies, and improving patient care)
  • Paperless practices (including a "Going Green" session taught by Dr. Stephen Pittenger)
  • Security (including credit card processing)
  • AAHA Standards and electronic medical records (taught by Jill Foreman, MBA, CVPM)

"Many veterinary practices use only a small fraction of their software's capabilities, so we try to make AVImark training available through any method our customers prefer," said Stephen McAllister, president of McAllister Software Systems. "In fact, we offer more training opportunities than any other veterinary software vendor."

In addition to its annual user group conference, the company offers regional training conferences, onsite training, webinars, online virtual training and AVImark certification programs, telephone training, and tutorial CDs.
