To compound the problem, traditional options available to hiring managers and recruiters alike for finding great technical candidates are either labor intensive, ineffective or cost prohibitive. "Hiring managers are not full-time recruiters, yet they also can't simply hand over this task to in-house recruiters. Evaluating technical talent requires a deep technical understanding of varied and complex skills," Cormier added. "However, we did find that both hiring managers and recruiters are more than willing to work together to find top talent."
The survey also showed that hiring managers have difficulty finding the right sourcing solution:
- A majority of hiring managers were admittedly dissatisfied with the quality of candidates found on job boards;
- A majority of hiring managers found social networking to be labor-intensive and therefore time consuming;
- A majority of hiring managers found the cost of search firm efforts to be too expensive.
