"The Next Move," a unique iPhone "concierge" from UrbanDaddy, has been named America's best mobile application for 2009, winning the top MOBI Award for overall excellence and breakthrough achievement in mobile media, UrbanDaddy CEO and Founder Lance Broumand announced.

MOBI Awards are hosted annually by the publishers of digiday:DAILY and digiday:MOBILE marketing and advertising. Winners were selected in eight categories by a panel of leading mobile media and marketing experts, including journalists, insiders, marketers, publishers, and mobile technology experts. UrbanDaddy had been vying for the top prize along with Pizza Hut and Disney/Bolt when nominations were announced. The awards ceremony was held September 16 at the W Hotel in Union Square.

Among Apple's top iPhone downloads in the "Travel" category, UrbanDaddy's application is described as, "...your answer to the eternal question, 'Where should we go next?'" Apple is featuring The Next Move in its current print and television advertising, Broumand noted.

Its unique, real-time "concierge engine" essentially puts an UrbanDaddy editor in the palm of an iPhone user's hand.
