Users and enthusiasts now have the capability to visualize their captured GPS data from their travels or route
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) October 3, 2009
AptoLink™, a company that creates innovative consumer electronics and data communication products, announced today AptoGraph - a powerful Web-based GPS data graphing software tool that uses Google Maps and Google Earth as a backdrop. AptoGraph enables the user to upload their continuous (or logged) GPS data in a .TXT file format or point location GPS data in a .CSV file format which is then plotted and overlaid onto Google Maps and Google Earth together with altitude graphs versus time and distance as well as adjoining statistics.
AptoGraph can plot GPS data that was captured from AptoLink's highly successful Datatap - a mobile application that collects GPS data in continuous and point location forms - or it can use GPS data captured from other devices, such as Garmin and Magellan, or from any other 3rd-party software that runs on a PC or mobile device and provides a NMEA (National Marine Electronic Association) format output.
"Users and enthusiasts now have the capability to visualize their captured GPS data from their travels or route," said Young Park, VP of Business Development and Sales. "Because AptoGraph is a Web-based software tool, users can use their mobile device or PC/Laptop/Netbook's browser to go online and upload up to four separate files to be plotted," he continued.
"Our customers are sports enthusiast, geo-caching gamers, and commercial businesses," mentions Park. "The outputted graphs can be viewed in Google Maps or Google Earth which also allows the user to click on a specific point and read the saved notes and information about that point location. The outputted information contains graphs of altitude versus time and distance, and a set of statistics - duration of trip, min/max/average speed, min/max/average altitude, total distance traveled and Longitude/Latitude for start and end points together with UTC time and date. Businesses use this information to visually track their assets or efforts in the field, and sports enthusiasts can keep up to date on the statistics of their run, hike, cycling or walk routes," adds Park.
