Working to bring Hispanic culture into a more supported and identifiable ethnic community has been seen by many Latin empowerment voices as a precursor to bringing Hispanics more firmly into mainstream accessibility and higher levels of mobility. The mission of the 2009 Viva La Vida Latino Expo and Festival is to provide an environment to support and strengthen economic development and community integration between businesses and the Hispanic community in the region. Marketing rep Wanda Harris states "We wanted to bring an event to the Houston area for the specifically Latin community who enjoys the Hispanic culture to look forward to each year. We'd like nothing more than to expand on this event in time and so are relying on whatever coverage we can get to get the word out and encourage people with an interest in Hispanic culture to come out for this first event."

Starting Friday 3pm, October 16th, 2009, come and watch in amazement as the skies of Pasadena fill with some of Houston's beautiful hot air balloons. On Saturday the 17th, the Regional Mexican bands kick off an entire day of non-stop music and dancing, from 11am and last all day till 8pm. Bands include Zensible, Grupo Ligado, Alerta, El Mariache, Las Chicas de Canela, La Calma, and the headliner Caracter Norteño (Formally known as Traileros del Norte). Watch Saturday night as the balloons light the night to the greatest regional Mexican music Houston has to offer. The midway will be a carnival that features carnival rides and all the typical fare that one could experience in a Hispanic and Latin-flavored carnival.

Prospective exhibitors will display products and services to the Houston/Galveston Hispanic community in this vibrant business & consumer expo and festival. Companies in the national, regional and local scope capitalize on this unique opportunity of reaching one of the fastest growing Hispanic Markets in the country.
