Artisanal Distiller Produces Holiday Offering

premium vodkas, announced today the release of its annual holiday offering, Vermont Spirits Limited Release Vodka.

Like its sister brand, Vermont Gold, Vermont Limited Release is produced entirely from the sap of maple trees, the very essence of Vermont. However, with Vermont Limited Release the distiller takes the art to another level by using only early run sap.

Each spring in New England, freezing nights and warm sunny days allow the mature maple trees to pump the converted starch they have been storing during the dormant winter season into sugar. The trees release this sugar as sap which flows for less than six weeks a year. Once collected, the maple sap is concentrated in a maple arch, fermented and then carefully distilled in small batches before bottling. A mature tree will produce about 40 quarts of sap in a season and it takes the sap from an entire tree to produce a single bottle of vodka.

As the annual "sugaring" season begins, the first few flows of sap released are referred to as "early run sap". Early run sap is light in color with a very delicate and subtle flavor. It is this first harvest which has been prized for generations and is used to make the highest quality and most sought after maple syrup.

Vermont Limited Release Vodka is produced entirely from early run maple sap. This unique natural resource coupled with a proprietary distilling method produces a vodka unlike any other. Remarkable flavor and character is revealed in every bottle.

Harry Gorman, Distiller for Vermont Spirits, said: "A very small percentage of the sugar maple's sap output comes in the form of early run sap. This year, fewer than 1,000 hand-numbered 375ml bottles of this exceptional spirit were produced. Steve Johnson, President of Vermont Spirits, said: "This year we decided to bottle our Limited Release in 375mls rather than 750mls. By using 375mls, we are able to keep the retail price within reach of most people and give more consumers a chance to enjoy it. Vermont Spirits Limited Release Vodka will be available at fine retailers in New York, Massachusetts and Vermont. The suggested retail price is $45.
