DeveloPrint's Management Analyzed the Mass Production Market at the European TransPromo Summit

The main message was that carrying out a TransPromo initiative is not enough, and that it also requires turning it into a live marketing communication platform with 'real added value'.

The European TransPromo Summit, organized by InfoTrends and 4IT Group, focused on the strategies, techniques, and tools for fusing the traditional transaction document with marketing messages to enhance customer communications, improve customer retention, and increase revenue. The event took place on October 6-7, 2009 at the Square Brussels Meeting Centre in Brussels, Belgium.

During the session, Peer and Buchsweiler presented a study case of a company that managed to show an exceptional return on investment through the implementation of a successful TransPromo strategy.

"For a legal advice one goes to a lawyer and for dealing with financial issues you hire an accountant, but where do you turn to when you need to carry out a TransPromo campaign?," said Peer. "TransPromo strategy should be executed by TransPromo professionals, who possess multi disciplinary understanding in relevant area such as: data mining, marketing, graphic design, document composition and printing. Such strategy should focus on core values such as customer needs and marketing goals and should be geared towards adding real value. Our presentation provides an opportunity to show how it can be done in reality."

DeveloPrint's executives explained why the European mass production TransPromo market is peaking up slowly. They also shared findings, which indicate that there is a gap at this relatively new market.

"On the one hand, print service providers understand that strategically they should adopt variable color capabilities. On the other hand, enterprises, and even those who understand and appreciate the opportunity of shifting to digital color, wish to get a full solution and see the added value," said Buchsweiler. "The problem is that most print service providers are not able to supply an end-to-end solution and can't prove an effective and relevant TransPromo product that will show the expected ROI. The print service provider finds himself often confronting challenges that are not part of his core business, while he doesn't have the resources, knowledge and will to take responsibilities in these areas. The required skills include: marketing understanding, CRM, data mining, design and other aspects."
