Adoption of ANT+ Doubles as Leading Brands and Manufacturers Join Interoperable ANT+ Ecosystem

Major manufacturers and brands choose ANT ULP wireless protocol and the established interoperable ecosystem of ANT+. ANT+ is the only available wireless connectivity solution that ensures standard communications between a wide array of personal sensors for sport (including running, cycling, and cardio equipment), and consumer health. ANT+ has also addressed the needs of the fitness sector by digitally linking cardio equipment with watches and body-worn sensors for first-ever unification of indoor and outdoor activity.

Cochrane, Alberta (PRWEB) October 5, 2009 -- ANT Wireless ("ANT" www.thisisant.com), a division of Dynastream Innovations Inc. today announces that membership in the ANT+ Alliance has increased over 100% year to year with major manufacturers and brands choosing to adopt the ANT ULP wireless protocol and the established interoperable ecosystem of ANT+. Over 170 companies now participate in the open ANT+ Alliance including: ActiGraph, Inc., Adidas, Nautilus, HMM, Echowell Electronic Co., OXYLANE- Group (Decathlon, Geonaute) and Zentan.

"Leading companies recognize ANT+ as being the superior and proven solution in ULP wireless communications," stated Brian Macdonald, Director, ANT Wireless. "Their consumers in turn, want reliable connectivity and advanced yet easy-to-implement functionality and that's what ANT+ delivers."

ANT+ currently enables myriad interoperable devices specializing in heart rate, personal weight, foot speed and distance, bike speed and cadence, and bike power. Recent proof of 'ANT+ in action' was the 2009 Tour de France where 10 of the top 10 riders used ANT+ enabled devices. One ANT+ member and Tour de France supplier, Trek Bicycles, also released the most technologically advanced bicycle on the market today, the Madone, with ANT+ sensors embedded in the bicycle frame.

While the current global focus on monitoring in sport and fitness grows, the natural transition of these applications into health and wellness also expands. Based on the mature and optimized ANT ULP wireless protocol, the ANT+ ecosystem is poised to manage this natural convergence.

Joseph Ternullo, Associate Director, Center for Connected Health and Keynote Speaker at the 2009 ANT+ Symposium further champions this need for practical solutions.

"Sports, Fitness and HealthCare are inextricably linked," stated Ternullo "What's more, an era of personal accountability and transparency in healthcare is upon us. That's big news for these industries and bodes well for the innovation and proven interoperability of ANT+."

Sally Edwards, CEO HeartZones USA, and also a Symposium Keynote, agrees.

"Anytime we can inspire and motivate people towards improved health, everyone wins," declared Edwards. "The companies involved with the ANT+ Alliance are doing some very exciting things and I'm thrilled to be part of discussions that will focus on real and interoperable solutions for real people."
