Education Logistics (EDULOG) Announces Successful School Year Start-ups by K-12 Transportation Clients

Education Logistics, Inc. (EDULOG) announced today that a survey of school districts using the EDULOG routing and schedule software proves the effectiveness of the company's commitment to service, support, and quality software.

"I've been involved in school district transportation operations for more than 20 years, and this is by far the best year for client school start-ups I've ever seen," said Joe O'Dell, EDULOG's vice president of consulting services. The company has received a surprising volume of unsolicited positive comments from customers regarding their successful experiences with the EDULOG software leading up to and during this year's school start--as well as expressing thanks to the company's staff for its dedicated service and support.

The widespread praise follows the first school start-up since EDULOG announced a management change in January, 2009. The company's new management structure has allowed it and its clients to benefit from the contributions of a larger team of executives, ten in all, with more than 160 years of industry experience. The new approach has increased the opportunities for input and influence from a broader range of experienced professionals and has enhanced company stability.

"As a result of the changes in January, EDULOG has reinforced its customer-centric approach by expanding its service offerings with free instructional webinars, more regional seminars, increased support of state and local users groups, a new monthly client newsletter, and enhancing a strong project management process and staff to ensure client expectations are always met, if not exceeded. The results are clear, and expressed by a wide range of very satisfied customers," explained EDULOG president Mike Darling.

EDULOG has also answered the recurring question about "easy-to-use" software by introducing a new model for transportation management: different types and levels of users with different roles each have a specialized software interface that interacts with the same core EDULOG system. This new approach has relieved school districts from the historical burden of being forced to choose between powerful, capable software or an intuitive, easy-to-use system.

Each level of user benefits from an EDULOG software interface specifically designed to meet the requirements of that role. This collective system of purpose-built interfaces allows districts to receive an even greater result based on the interaction of both strong and inexperienced system users.

"Ease of use is fundamental to a successful transportation system, and EDULOG provides that with an intuitive and unique software model, intensive training and support operations, and the industry's only full service solution that includes both initial and recurring consulting and services," explained EDULOG president Mike Darling. "We are always interested in what school districts tell us, and many of the changes that EDULOG has made in both software and operations are a direct result of client requests and suggestions. And the success that our clients have reported validates this commitment to focusing on the customer."

Comments from EDULOG clients regarding this year's successful start of transportation operations include:

Carroll County School System, GA
"The Carroll County Schools will lose another $9 million in funding in 2010/2011. After converting to EDULOG from the SmartR system by Trapeze, we used the EDULOG system's ability to maximize the number of students on a bus and minimize the total number of runs in the system. Since we started with EDULOG, we have cut 20 buses from the fleet and close to 30 from the system (1.5 routes per bus) by using the different approaches available in the software. Altogether, we've seen approximately $300,000 each year in savings!"--Denzil Rogers (Transportation Director)

As the 23rd largest school system in the state of Georgia, Carroll County School System serves approximately 15,200 students, of which about 11,000 are provided transportation. These students attend any of 22 schools in the county. Carroll County is included in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Haverford Township School District, NY
"The EDULOG system gives you a nice picture of what's going on. If I weren't able to use the software for changes like this we would have started this year with 60 or 61 AM runs instead of the 51 we did, and that's an incredible improvement. This is our second year in a row that we've been able to cut some runs. We were even able to take into consideration the shuttles. We have EduTracker GPS, NT routing and scheduling, and WebQuery, which really helps reduce the phone calls. All of this allows us to look at the big picture. The routes and schedules always come together in the end but EDULOG lets us look at it now and plan ahead. August 31st was our last summer school run and some private schools started that day, then regular education started on September 8. We don't stop running buses, and without the EDULOG system we'd never survive, let alone find time to make all those money saving changes!"--George Ramplin (Transportation Director)

The Haverford Township School District is located in a residential community in northeastern Delaware County right outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Residents number over 49,000. The District has a student enrollment of approximately 8,000, of which 4,700 are provided transportation. The district has seven schools: Chatham Park, Chestnutwold, Coopertown, Lynnewood, and Manoa elementary schools (grades K-5); Haverford Middle School (grades 6-8); and Haverford High School (grades 9-12).

Half Hollow Hills School District, NY
"We had a very successful start to the school year, and I know it would have been a mistake for us to not have the ASP services from EDULOG. Everyone here loves the system and the support. We'd be dead in the water without it--there's so much that can be done, and with Troy from the EDULOG ASP support group working with us there is nothing we can't do!"--Stephen Troy (Transportation Director)

The Half Hollow Hills Central School District is located in a residential area of 40,000 people in the central part of Long Island, approximately 40 miles from New York City. It is an education-oriented community with high expectations for its schools. The district has a current enrollment of 10,500 students, with transportation provided for 10,400. The district has seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools.

Port Huron Area School District, MI
"We used the run optimization feature of EDULOG this year to accommodate several school closures, and I know that EDULOG was essential in creating the most efficient routes to handle these changes. The first two weeks of school were especially crazy this year, as a few buildings closed over the summer, leaving overcrowded classrooms at the replacement schools. I worked with EDULOG for these changes, using the software to determine the transportation runs needed to move students efficiently across boundary lines among the overcrowded schools. EDULOG support (especially from Kevin in Pittsburgh) is exceptionally helpful!"--Barbara Hurt (Transportation Manager)

The Port Huron Area School District currently has an enrollment of approximately 11,400 students, of which about 6,200 are provided transportation. The mission of the Port Huron Area School District and its 21 schools is to provide a secure, innovative learning environment where all students can become independent, life-long learners and contributing participants in our changing world.

Pennridge School District, PA
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank EDULOG for fulfilling our request to have Troy Schlimgen to be our ASP manager. We had the best opening of school that Pennridge School District ever experienced. This is an absolutely unbelievable feat due to us just changing software to EDULOG from Trapeze. Troy went above the mandatory services in every way and assisted us when we had different obstacles to hurdle. He was always pleasant and calm when chaos was all around him. Not only did he assist us with changing over to EDULOG he also helped with Power School interfacing with EDULOG. We appreciate all his hard work and wish to commend him for a job well done."--Denise McCue (Transportation Director)

The Pennridge School District is located approximately 30 miles north of Philadelphia in Bucks County, Southeast Pennsylvania. It includes an area of approximately 95 square miles with a total population of 45,000 in eight municipalities (the boroughs of Dublin, Perkasie, Sellersville, and Silverdale, and the townships of Bedminster, East Rockhill, Hilltown, and West Rockhill). There are seven elementary schools (grades K-5), three middle schools (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12) in the district. The anticipated enrollment for the 2008-2009 school year is 7,332.

Jenison Public Schools, MI
"I map my students in EDULOG, then let the system auto generate directions and time, which are tweaked to fit my exact schedule; overall, the system does the vast majority of the work. After our conversion to NT, and with subsequent updates, I have used the software to compare driver times for an accurate account of how long the runs should be. I found that EDULOG matches drive times accurately, and provides a great resource on which to base my projections."--Janet Bredeweg (Transportation Director)

Jenison is a suburban community in the metropolitan Grand Rapids, Michigan area. It is home to approximately 5,400 students, of which about 2,200 are provided transportation. These students attend any of eight schools. The reputation of the school district has made it a popular home for educators from other districts and staff from Grand Valley State University, which is located nearby.

Romeo Community Schools, MI
"Our district closed an elementary school this year--Ken Colson from EDULOG was on-site for assistance--and I was able to eliminate one regular ed and one special needs route from the system. EDULOG has been a large help during the beginning of school, and I intend to further this success with a push to install GPS on our bus fleet, because I recently received our efficiency assessment from Chuck at EDULOG. That report highlighted problem areas that GPS could solve in our operation, and I hope to use this report to make a case for GPS from EDULOG. I am very excited about the possibilities with this technology, and I want to incorporate the payroll module as well!"--Frank Rydquist (Transportation Director)

The Romeo Community Schools is a K-12 public school district located in northern Macomb County, Michigan, about thirty miles north of Detroit. Fonda-Fultonville Central School District, NY
"With the EDULOG system, I was able to give the drivers the information they needed for their bus runs in a way that was easy to read and easy to use. As a result, the start of school with regard to transportation went very well--it always does. The people at EDULOG have always been very helpful with whatever I need, and especially with custom reports. I am very thankful that they are just a phone call away."--Jim Lathers (Transportation Director)

Voyageur Bus Company, WI
"My company uses EDULOG's ASP system to route for our three charter schools. It was so easy this year! Getting those schools going was cake. As a bus contractor, we worked with the schools to get their data, then used EDULOG.nt ASP to get the bus passes set up in short order. We were good to go in no time! EDULOG's ASP option makes my job much easier and lets me stay focused on my business by handling all the software and server management."--Mark LaCore (Transportation Director)

Hellgate Elementary School District, MT
"We have used EDULOG ePTS for a number of years. Our school start up went very smoothly this year. Even though we have done quite a few startups with EDULOG, there are always a few things that pop up. Our main support person at EDULOG, Rob, is very knowledgeable and helpful whenever I have any issues that need attention. I also appreciate EDULOG checking in with me frequently to make sure things are running smoothly. I can't say enough how the system has helped our district."--Becky Mangun (Transportation Manager)
