Local Medicare Advantage Plan Scores High on Diabetic Care and Blood Pressure Control
KelseyCare Advantage reports HEDIS scores to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
Houston, TX (PRWEB) October 6, 2009 -- KelseyCare Advantage, a Houston-based Medicare Advantage plan serving more than 10,000 Medicare beneficiaries in the counties of Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, and Galveston on the Mainland, recently reported its Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). KelseyCare Advantage scored high, in the 90th percentile, for comprehensive diabetic care and also scored well in blood pressure control.
HEDIS is a tool that more than 90 percent of health plans in America use to measure performance and quality on important dimensions of care and service. It looks at a broad range of clinical issues such as diabetes care, beta blocker use after heart attack, blood pressure control, asthma medication use and immunization sets. HEDIS scores make it possible to compare performance among health plans, and allow individual health plans to study their own data to determine areas of improvement.
KelseyCare Advantage has an extensive diabetic population. Prevention of hospitalizations, kidney failure, retinopathy, vascular disease and amputations is directly related to the quality of care the diabetic population receives. The high ranking achieved by KelseyCare Advantage demonstrates the delivery of high quality health care to this population.
