Today, SC Magazine announced the top ten finalists for the inaugural Security Innovators Throwdown, part of the second annual SC World Congress Conference and Expo, Oct. 13 and 14 in New York City. The competition showcases young companies, new technologies and ground-breaking services likely to impact the future information security landscape.
A panel of cybersecurity and venture capital experts reviewed all submissions for the competition and selected the following companies as finalists, based on their vision and demonstrated ability to express the viabilities of their technologies:

 Envision, for development of a SaaS suite of on-line applications, tools, and reference material.
 HyTrust for its control and visibility for virtual infrastructure.

 Silver Tail for its technology enabling detection of new fraudulent behavior on websites.
 SMS Passcode for its two-factor authentication systems using the mobile phone SMS to create real-time two-factor authentication.
 Triumfant for its technology for detection, analysis and remediation of attacks.
 Xybershield for its web application security solution.
 Yubi Key for its hardware authentication token technology.
At the SC World Conference, conference attendees can observe the finalists present to a panel of expert judges in an open forum, as the companies gain valuable insight and feedback from those in attendance. Each finalist will then will then be awarded a score based on a set of pre-defined criteria, until a champion is declared.
