With a free download and a tap, iPhone and iPod Touch owners activate GadgetGuard's a two-year service plan that provides up to $500 of coverage to repair or replace a handheld device. Two levels of protection are available: GadgetGuard Gold for recently purchased phones and GadgetGuard Silver for older phones.
Two common, expensive problems for iPhone owners is a cracked screen or water damage, neither of which is covered under the manufacturer's warranty. GadgetGuard covers 100 percent of the cost of parts and labor for a full two years. GadgetGuard also is the only service plan provider to offer extended coverage with no deductible, no waiting period and no limit on the number of claims.
Eligibility and pricing
GadgetGuard Gold is $5 a month after a $49 activation fee. An iPhone must be less than one month old to qualify for the Gold-level plan. For iPhones up to nine months old, GadgetGuard Silver is available for only $3 per month and a $29 activation fee. Coverage is also available for iPod Touch devices at similar rates.
GadgetGuard plans are available immediately to customers worldwide from Apple's iPhone App Store. Blackberry and Android versions are in development.

A unique feature of the GadgetGuard iPhone app is its integrated Warranty Store. Once a customer activates a service plan, he or she can easily add coverage to other household appliances and electronic devices. Plans are available to more than 40 types of products.

Toll-free claims service is provided, and warranty service is available from thousands of locations worldwide. GadgetGuard plans are administered by Consumer Priority Service, and are underwritten by TierOne Warranty.
