TI has licensed the ANT ultra-low power wireless protocol for inclusion in upcoming system-on-chip (SoC) products from their Low-Power RF business. The new transceivers from TI will be over-the-air compatible with all existing ANT chip products.

ANT Wireless (http://www.thisisant.com), a division of Dynastream Innovations Inc. ("ANT") and Texas Instruments (TI) are pleased to announce that TI has licensed the ANT ultra-low power wireless protocol for inclusion in upcoming system-on-chip (SoC) products from their Low-Power RF business. The new transceivers from TI will be over-the-air compatible with all existing ANT chip products.

"TI is adopting the ANT protocol and interoperable ANT+ ecosystem to enhance our comprehensive total low-power RF portfolio of products and system solutions," said Brian Blum, low-power RF product marketing, Texas Instruments. "Working with ANT allows us to offer the market a complete, state-of-the-art system solution for ULP wireless connectivity in sports, fitness, health care, medical, and other wireless sensor spaces."

Coupling the mature and optimized ANT protocol with TI's ultra-low power MSP430 microcontrollers or other host processor provides a simple, low cost and low power solution for short range wireless communication in both point-to-point or more complex network topologies. Adhering the ANT+ profile (that runs on the MSP430) to this application level interface further ensures the interoperability that "standardizes" ANT+ products.

"TI's adoption of ANT-enabled transceivers offers great expansion opportunities with the renowned technical support infrastructure of this world-leading organization," stated Brian Macdonald, Director, ANT Wireless. "Furthermore, this partnership offers the market highly integrated silicon from multiple vendors."

TI's low-power RF portfolio will continue to expand with solutions available for the wireless sensor networking space, both standard and proprietary, including future devices with ANT support

About ANT / ANT+ (http://www.thisisant.com)
ANT is a proven protocol and silicon solution for ultra-low power (ULP) practical wireless networking applications.

ANT+ facilitates interoperability between ANT+ Alliance member devices and the collection, automatic transfer and tracking of sensor data. Applicable in sport, wellness management and home health monitoring, ANT+ (built on the base ANT protocol) defines device profiles that specify data formats, channel parameters and network key. The ANT+ Alliance is an open special interest group of companies who have adopted the ANT+ promise of interoperability. The Alliance ensures standardized communications through optimized brand value and partnerships with other top tier products.

The company behind ANT Wireless is Dynastream Innovations Inc. Dynastream was established in 1998 and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Garmin International Inc. in December 2006. Dynastream is based in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada, and is a world innovator in the research and development of inertial and wireless technology. http://www.dynastream.com
