We document and organize it all in a way that has never been done before and Google's interactive, free and easy-to-use tools significantly enhances the information.
Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) October 8, 2009
Street View on Google Maps is new to Vancouver, but it has been playing a key role for at least one Vancouver-based business since March 2009.
ChicWalks.com offers meticulously researched, street-by-street shopping walks for fashion capitals worldwide, complemented by Google Maps. Its first two guides cover key shopping routes in Paris and Vancouver, and soon, San Francisco.
Since going live in March 2009, Chicwalks.com has been using Street View on Google Maps for its Paris guide, providing users with an interactive street-level view of the city's major shopping areas. Street View allows shoppers to virtually "walk the route" before they hit the streets.
Today, ChicWalks.com has added Street View to its Vancouver shopping walks, adding a significant wow factor to the site.
"We are thrilled to be able to include street-level views of the streets and shops on our walks in Vancouver," says Karen Henrich, founder and CEO of Chicwalks Media Inc. "For months, users have reported that they love this feature on our Paris walks because it allows visitors to be instantly transported to the streets of Paris."
Vancouver is the first Canadian city featured on Chicwalks.com, in anticipation of the huge influx of tourists expected for the 2010 Winter Olympics. "Vancouver's shopping scene is engaging and varied, ranging from top-name, international designers and chains, to funky, independent boutiques and unique, locally designed fashions, shoes, jewellery and home decor items," Henrich says. "We document and organize it all in a way that has never been done before and Google's interactive, free and easy-to-use tools significantly enhances the information."
Jonathan Lister, Managing Director and Head of Google Canada, adds, "We're happy to be working with ChicWalks.com as they use Street View on Google Maps to enhance their shopping walks for Vancouver in time for the 2010 Olympics, and for other fashion cities around the world."
The Origins of the Shopping Walk
ChicWalks.com is the result of founder and CEO Karen Henrich's experience as a Paris tour operator and her frustration in trying to find one comprehensive source for all of the city's key shopping areas. Through her tour company, Nuit Blanche Tours, Henrich has developed and led popular shopping tours for hundreds of English-speaking clients in Paris. She created shopping walks for customers by conducting her own meticulous research, on foot and online, and asking the advice of fashionable French friends. ChicWalks.com was born when she brought all of that research together in one user-friendly format that allows users to shop the way they want to, on a street-by-street basis. Paris and Vancouver are just the beginning for Chicwalks.com, which plans to expand to other major shopping cities around the world. San Francisco will be the first U.S. city to be added to the site, and research is in progress now.
Customized Media & VIP Shopping Tours
Chicwalks.com has recently expanded its popular guided tours to Vancouver. At the request of the Canadian Tourism Commission, the shopping experts at Chicwalks.com have conducted customized shopping tours for visiting foreign journalists who will be covering the Olympics, and it is providing a similar service in France for visiting journalists on press familiarization tours of Paris. Chicwalks.com sets up interviews with local designers, provides comprehensive lists of local designers and country-specific chains, gains access to the back rooms of ateliers and design studios, and leads participants to funky, distinctly local boutiques.
