Innovative, environmentally forward, employee-owned, and woman-led CW Brown continues to lead the 21st century construction industry with an exciting new project that's close to home: its state-of-the-art green headquarters in Armonk, New York.
The initial portion of CW Brown's new 45,000 square-foot headquarters will be gutted and rebuilt to meet or exceed environmental standards. CW Brown intends to open its new offices in the first quarter of 2010 as the first building in Westchester to achieve Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum Certification. LEED-certified buildings use resources efficiently and provide healthier working and living environments for owners, occupiers, and society.
Long an innovator in environmentally-responsible construction, CW Brown chose to go in the opposite direction in an economically challenging time for the industry. CW Brown strategically focused on projected growth sectors like health services and education, expanded its workforce, invested in infrastructure, and positioned the company for the future.
Their strategy paid off. CW Brown not only survived but flourished and their success and growth drove the need for larger quarters. Following in the company's 25 year tradition, CW Brown predicts that their leading-edge green headquarters will set a precedent in the industry and region.
"The Armonk headquarters will be a showcase for green building methods and materials, and inspire vendors and clients alike with Brown's environmentally-forward vision," said Renee Brown, CEO.
Green features of the project include a newly-enhanced HVAC system, solar panels and solar tubes as energy sources, furniture composed of bio-fibers from sunflower seeds and wheat, and plans to recycle 75% of the construction debris to include carpeting and wood materials from the project.
CW Brown plans to expand its work force in the Westchester area, and its geographic reach to the tri-state area. CW Brown will pursue additional green initiatives, such as carpooling, incentives for employees to buy hybrid vehicles, and the use of green office supplies.
