It is truly an honor to receive the NDLW Outstanding Contribution to Online Learning Award from Drexel during National Distance Learning Week

Drexel University Online announced today that Susan Patrick, President and CEO of International Association for K-12 Online Learning, will be honored at the 2009 National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) annual awards reception. "It is truly an honor to receive the NDLW Outstanding Contribution to Online Learning Award from Drexel during National Distance Learning Week" said Patrick.

"We are honored to have Susan Patrick accept the Outstanding Contribution to Online Learning Award and to be recognized as a contributor to the field of distance education" said Dr. Kenneth Hartman, academic director of Drexel University Online and NDLW Chairman. "Susan Patrick is being honored because of her passion and successful legislative commitment, which has forever changed the way teachers teach and students learn. She has made a long and lasting contribution on a local, state and national level to the advancement of distance learning."

Honored at last year's ceremony were former First Lady Laura Bush and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell. Both were acknowledged for their outstanding dedication to educational technology and education and were awarded the 2008 National Leadership Award.

Today, over 3.5 million college students are taking online courses and/or earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, over 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-lead virtual schools. During the week of November 9-13, schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies across the country will be showcasing their online programs.

NDLW, sponsored by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA), is an initiative that seeks to generate broader awareness and appreciation for distance learning within the areas of pre-K-12 education, higher and continuing education, home schooling serving business, military and government markets.
