Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) October 13, 2009
The rags-to-riches story of ContactNetwork Founding Director Alan Johnston caught the eyes of a famous local talk show, Thai-Oz Talk. Hosted by Jaye Walton, the show went on air on 27 September 2009, highlighting the recent growth of the company, its history and services as well as an insight to the future of online business and lead sourcing portal.
The rise of ContactNetwork Founding Director Alan Johnston is the stuff of dreams for many wannabe-internet-entrepreneurs. Johnston even admits to pinching himself sometimes, such is the speed that ContactBangkok, the company's Thai product, has established itself in the market.
Alan's ContactNetwork Group runs a range of local business information directory websites across South East Asia. Each website contains in-depth information and contact details for all publicly listed business, enabling members of the public to discover local services and businesses as they need them.
ContactBangkok, the company's flagship project would not even be around today had Johnston's path not wound its way to Asia. Back then Johnston a "disgruntled" Brit, to use his own words, having suffered the pain of divorce, discovered Thailand and fell in love with the country, selling everything he owned to move to Bangkok - where his rags to riches played out.
A chance conversation with a friend bore a concept which would later became the foundations of ContactNetwork. The birth of the company and Johnson's ascendancy to internet entrepreneur are a remarkable story that underlines the business opportunity of the internet today.
"The internet is flattening the world," says the ContactNetwork Founding Director, "the technology and expertise to put a good idea to action is here. All that's required is the initial spark of innovation to start the business."
In his case that spark was business cards and, specifically, the number Johnston accumulated from working the business networking scene in Bangkok.
Johnson began devoting all hours to work on the website, fast forward three years later and little has changed with Johnston's dedicated work ethic. During a recent interview with Jaye Walton on the Thai Oz chatshow, he recently admitted to having not left Bangkok and working in office until midnight most evenings.
The dedication has certainly paid off as July saw ContactBangkok register more than 500,000 unique monthly visitors in mid 2009, overtaking the internet traffic figures for the hugely popular ThaiVisa website.
Johnston is understandably positive and upbeat about the future, insisting there is still much work to be done with ContactBangkok whilst developing the network's other sites. Together, he envisions a large, co-operative business network expanding across the South East Asia and Asia Pacific regions.
