It is amazing to think you can own a small piece of history
Marion, IA (PRWEB) October 13, 2009
In honor of the 40th anniversary of NASA's 1969 moon landing, Cyber Space Pens will offer the Limited Edition AG7-40 LE Fisher Space Pen, a rare collectible that offers ownership of an actual Apollo 11 artifact. Only 1,000 of the limited edition pens will be made.
"It is amazing to think you can own a small piece of history," said Katherine Grizzell, co-owner of Cyber Space Pens. "The AG 7-40 LE comes on a specially designed collectible display case so you can show off your pen in a unique way."
The AG 7-40 is designed to replicate the original AG 7 Space Pen designed by founder Paul C. Fisher in 1966 and used on the historic space mission. Fisher hand cut and floated a piece of Kapton foil, the thermal protective insulation used in the Command module Columbia in a water-clear acrylic dome and sealed it into the cap of the specially designed pen. The pen is finished in black titanium nitride with 24-karat gold engravings.
"The design and construction of this pen is exactly the same as the original pen taken to the moon in 1969," said Grizzell.
The engravings include the visage of an astronaut planting the American flag into the lunar surface, the astronaut's names, anniversary dates and the individual serial number for each of the 1,000 issues. Certificates of authentication are included with each pen.
