Xsigo virtual I/O, together with fully virtualized storage, delivers significantly more management efficiency and I/O bandwidth, allowing us to offer the same high quality service at 1/5 the cost.

Xsigo Systems, a technology leader in data center I/O virtualization, today announced that IT CORE Corporation, a virtualized hosting service provider based in Tokyo, Japan, has successfully deployed Xsigo virtual I/O in its next-generation service offering. Compared with the firm's previous generation offering, the new, highly-efficient infrastructure -- which includes virtualized I/O, storage, and servers -- enables IT CORE to offer customers an 80% reduction in service prices.
"IT CORE led the way in virtualized hosting services beginning in 2004. Our next-generation architecture based on virtual I/O lets us re-invent the business with a markedly more efficient design," said Toshihiro Yamada, CEO of IT CORE. "Xsigo virtual I/O, together with fully virtualized storage, delivers significantly more management efficiency and I/O bandwidth, allowing us to offer the same high quality service at 1/5 the cost."
IT CORE's new service offering, called GrowServer 2010, is a fully managed virtual server hosting environment that employs the Xsigo VP780 I/O Director, DataCore storage virtualization, and VMware vSphere 4 software running on HP servers.
Benefits of Xsigo in the IT CORE deployment include:
- Performance: 20Gbps bandwidth to each server for increased server utilization.
- Guaranteed bandwidth to specific virtual machines: Xsigo quality of service settings ensure application performance and eliminate resource contention.
- Configurable in seconds: Physical servers can be re-purposed or moved from one physical network to another in seconds, without IT personnel having to visit the data center.
"Service providers can now change the game in service offerings with next-generation virtualization technologies including Xsigo virtual I/O," said Lloyd Carney, CEO of Xsigo. "IT CORE's new offering demonstrates that moving to a fully virtualized environment delivers a quantum-leap improvement beyond what's possible with server virtualization alone, in this case enabling a competition-crushing five-fold gain in price/performance."
