The Best Practices Xchange ("BPX") (http://www.BestPracticesXchange.com) is scheduled to meet on Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Oakbrook Marriott for a one day summit attended by a "Who's Who" of top Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, and Supply Chain Executives. This meeting will focus on "Gaining a Voice in the Boardroom" as BPX members explore how to increase their visibility and acceptance at the highest executive levels.

The Mpower Group will set the stage with a review of current research and benchmarking results that reflect the underlying issues. The focus will be on identifying the main roadblocks that prevent Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain groups from achieving recognition for their strategic contributions to organizational success. This will pave the way for two significant presentations that will create the basis for the hallmark BPX Roundtable Discussion that is the culmination of the day.

Dr. Lloyd Rinehart, University of Tennessee Knoxville, will tap his industry experience and cutting-edge research on negotiations to create a framework for developing reality based relationships as the basis for Gaining a Voice in the Boardroom. Blending theory and practical examples, Professor Rinehart will introduce a powerful model for building and sustaining the relationships necessary to insure a positive response from the C-Level .

Ruth Ann Gillis, Executive Vice President, President Business Services Company, Exelon Corp., will share the perspective of the C-Level Executive. She will deliver several vignettes of what works (and what doesn't) when "selling" at the C-Level. Ms. Gillis' presentation will provide a unique insight into the real meaning of "strategic impact" while highlighting what it takes to gain a consistent voice in the boardroom.

A brief case study will serve as the vehicle for the BPX members to share best practices and apply the concepts and tools presented by the speakers during the concluding BPX Roundtable Discussion. The BPX members will share their own unique strategies for "Gaining a Voice in the Boardroom" during the Roundtable and will Xchange their experiences, successes, and challenges with one another.
