Three years in the making, Book of Odds is a searchable online database containing hundreds of thousands of "odds statements." From the odds of being the only one to survive a plane crash to the likelihood of having ever eaten cold pizza for breakfast, the website allows users to discover the probabilities of everyday life. Using aggregated statistics in areas such as crime, politics, accidents and relationships, Book of Odds shows users where they fit in with the world. The idea was conceived by Amram Shapiro, founder of the privately funded multimillion-dollar startup based in Boston, Massachussetts. More than 20 years experience as a consultant for strategy, technology and new product development has informed Shaprio's efforts in making sense of statistics, managing complex projects and understanding the dynamics of healthy organization. He is supported by a staff of professionals from such prestigious schools as Harvard and MIT and a select group of professional partners.
Kurani Interactive was chosen out of a large pool of esteemed interactive agencies to work side by side with the Book of Odds team to bring the idea to fruition. In addition to branding Book of Odds, Kurani Interactive provided assistance with the long-term digital monetization strategy and designed and built the online user experience (website and mobile). Among the website features are a robust content management system with custom work flow for the editorial staff, integration with a back-end semantic database for organizational efficiencies, ad serving, segmented data collection, and a 'my accounts' section that allows users to save lists, aggregate "like-me" stats, and share findings.
