North Star Destination Strategies specializes in Community and City Branding. North Star's BrandPrint process combines research, strategy and creativity, and has helped develop unique and effective brands for big-name cities like Anchorage, Alaska; Providence, Rhode Island and Williamsburg, Virginia. Shannon graduated with a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Eckerd College and a with a dual Master's degree in anthropology and MBA degree with emphasis on marketing from the University of Colorado at Boulder-Leeds School of Business. Prior to working with North Star, she served as an ethnographic analyst for Context-based Research Group in Baltimore, MD. There, she determined the research needs of clients, designed research studies and conducted field research using qualitative methodologies such as in-depth interviewing, observation or shadowing, behavior and relationship mapping and self-expression exercises. The insights she gained served to further the efforts of businesses and organizations in industries including healthcare, consumer packaged goods, retail, transportation, and telecommunications. Shannon has also worked at Smart Revenue: Insights, Strategies and Solutions as a Retail Ethnographer, and at Smithsonian Journeys as a Senior Reservations Coordinator and Tour Manager.

Shannon's experience includes designing research programs and approaches that yield deep insights and powerful implications for businesses and communities.
