MaxQ Technology Launches Tiger Series Cold Plates for Standard Power Modules

Tiger Series provides the lowest thermal resistance and pressure drop in the market.

Time to market is always a crucial component to any new design program. In today's global economic atmosphere, the pressure to deliver exceptional performance while managing cost is high. To enable shorter design cycle times in a reliable, cost-effective manner, MaxQ Technology has launched the Tiger Series line of liquid-cooled cold plates for high-power conversion applications, such as electric vehicle (EV),hybrid electric vehicle (HEV),plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV), wind turbines and industrial motor control. The new Tiger Series provides drop-in mounting capability for the popular Semikron SKiM® 63 and SKiM® 93 power modules along with other industry standard module footprints. This eliminates the need for time-intensive designing and testing. Every Tiger Series cold plate is a proven design with predictable performance, providing very low thermal resistance, low pressure drop, and a robust and reliable metallurgical seal. With this technology, every designer can rest assured that his thermal management solution will meet even the most demanding requirements.

"The Tiger Series cold plate line is the first comprehensive 'standard offering' for the vast majority of power electronic modules requiring liquid cooling," says Memo Romero, President of MaxQ Technology, "Being power electronics and thermal engineers, we surveyed the current power module landscape and methodically designed a product line to support 90% of the packages in the industry."

The Tiger Series provides the lowest thermal resistance and pressure drop in the market. With an effective cooling capacity of up to 0.85 C-cm2/W, designers will be pleased with the smaller, lightweight cold plates. From a hydraulic perspective, the low pressure drop (less than 2 PSI at 8 Liters/minute of flow rate) enables a lower pressure pump requirement. All of these features are made possible with MaxQ Technology's patent pending Q-Chillâ„¢ technology. The Tiger Series cold plate size is driven by the module footprint rather than the cold plate cooling limitations.
