Our carbon footprint is something we are always conscious of when producing a massive, multi-day, event such as the New York City Wine & Food Festival
New York (PRWEB) October 15, 2009
GreeNow, a green power company, continues on its mission to produce high-quality events while reducing the amount of harmful carbon emissions released. As the only company in the United States offering state-of-the-art, responsible production equipment that runs on 100% renewable fuel, GreeNow has created a new benchmark for the events industry.
Since September 1st 2009, GreeNow generators have burned a total of 8,000 gallons of biofuel, resulting in 39,702 lbs. of carbon emissions; in contrast, the same 8,000 gallons of petroleum diesel (the standard generator fuel) would have resulted in 177,600 lbs. of carbon emissions, more than four times the amount generated by biofuel. By using biofuel instead of petroleum diesel, GreeNow has reduced its carbon emissions by 138,528 lbs. over a six week period, the equivalent of removing twelve cars from the road for one entire year.
While generator power is often the most environmentally damaging aspect of any event, events can be produced using more sustainable methods, a fact increasing amounts of companies and organizations are recognizing. From events such as Electric Zoo on Randall's Island to the National Parks Celebration in Central Park, to, most recently, the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, GreeNow has been behind the scenes, powering large-scale events in an environmentally responsible way.
"Our carbon footprint is something we are always conscious of when producing a massive, multi-day, event such as the New York City Wine & Food Festival", said Eve Cohen, Senior Event Producer of the Grand Tasting at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure and hosted by and benefiting the Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength. "GreeNow provided us with a relatively simple way to substantially reduce the festival's environmental impact."
GreeNow was founded in 2006 to offer alternative sources of power for the events industry. Known for using biodiesel in converted, traditionally petroleum diesel equipment, the company leads the industry by providing 100% alternative fuel in its equipment. GreeNow provides generators, solar charged battery packs and recycling, and serves clients with a producer's mindset. For further information, please visit our website at http://www.GreeNow.com.
