Robin Leedy & Associates (RL&A), a boutique 23-year-old public relations and social media agency specializing in national brand OTC health and beauty products, recently signed agreements with two new clients to conduct public relations and social media campaigns. Both wins include Facebook marketing strategies.
For Cobalis Corp. of Irvine, California, RL&A will help launch the company's premier product, PreHistin®, The World's FIRST Pre-Histamine™. "We're excited about the PreHistin launch because this product is unique in its category," says Robin Russo, RL&A president, "and has potential in both the traditional and social media venues. Any time we can take personal health messages and translate them into lifestyle, where social media works best, we anticipate great results."
RL&A has gained its reputation as the drugstore brands PR/social media agency of choice for small- to medium-size brands. With more than two decades of experience, the agency is creating customized communications programs to deliver targeted brand messages to an individual brand's influencers, whether at magazines or TV, through key bloggers or on social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter. The company started its social media division, ChatteRL&A, two years ago, but has been doing social media for a number of years prior to formalizing the department.
"Social media really started back in the late 90s when Web chats became a popular method of communicating directly with consumers in an organic, versus paid, way," says Russo. "We were conducting online chats featuring celebrities and health experts way before the term 'Web 2.0' was ever coined."
Also recently added to RL&A's client roster is Quantum Health of Eugene, Oregon, maker of natural, science-based over-the-counter consumer health products. RL&A will conduct an integrated PR campaign for three of Quantum's oral care brands: Canker Cover®, LIP CLEAR® Lysine+ and OraMoist™. The 12-month campaign will be a combination of traditional and social media tactics, including oral-care educational outreach and spokesperson.
