New York, NY (PRWEB) October 20, 2009
ABD3 LLC, a developer of social networking applications, today officially launched YellowPin, its first Facebook application.
YellowPin, which has been live for several months, is a free, location-based service with several unique and useful features. YellowPin isn't so much about where users and their friends are but rather about how that information can be used to make informed decisions on where to go and who to see. YellowPin can be used online or the mobile component can be added to get real time text message updates on the go.
Instead of approximating a location on a map, YellowPin identifies a place by name and address (ex: Dylan Prime, 62 Laight Street, New York, NY). By using YellowPin online, its map will show users not only the names and addresses of the places where their friends are, but it also identifies the most popular places based on the number of friends who are there. And all information is in real time.
Since YellowPin is GPS-free, users are never tracked. YellowPin gives users total control of when they want to update their location, who is allowed to receive their updates, and which of their favorite people and places they want updates from.
Subscribers can check YellowPin and see where friends are, what places are the most popular, and what comments friends made from or about those places. YellowPin acts as a social concierge giving users limitless social choices.
On the go, YellowPin's Buzz feature gives users real time updates from the people and places that they are interested in. Setting the Place Buzz will let subscribers know via a simple text message when two or more of their friends are in the same place. Users can also update their location or make comments about or from that location through their cell phone by texting 555888. YellowPin works on any cell phone with SMS capability, so no fancy phone is necessary.
YellowPin relies on the user's already established friend network on Facebook so there is no need to start yet another network. YellowPin can also be set to update users Facebook profiles and Twitter streams. Again, with YellowPin the user is always in complete control.
"In the last few months, we've listened to and worked with our subscribers to optimize the way YellowPin functions. We are very happy to officially launch the application and we're extremely excited about the social potential for YellowPin," said Sayles Braga, CEO of ABD3. "We are also working to develop the business-to-consumer side of the application. Restaurants, clubs, even bowling alleys--any venue or business--can use YellowPin to communicate with its clientele through the Buzz feature in real time."
