Quango Interaction Design today announced the launch of their updated Web presence, a site that relies on the popular social network service Twitter for instantaneous posting of images and text within the agency's established identity. Portland, Oregon-based Quango Interaction Design is an independent, full-service graphic design agency specializing in creative branding, marketing and interactive solutions.

Putting The Real-Time Web To Work
In redeveloping their site, interactive designers at Quango envisioned an online presence with dynamic content updatable anytime and anywhere. "We had this scenario," explains Chief Creative Officer Dave Anolik, "Where we were at an American Marketing Association awards banquet and received an award. Since we all carry Twitter and Facebook-enabled iPhones, we snapped photos and posted the news. It was live online, but we had to wait until the next morning to update the awards page on our site. We knew we could do better."

Going Beyond The Twitter Feed
While sites with streaming Twitter feeds are nothing new, Quango envisioned text and images integrating seamlessly into the site design. "In leveraging Twitter, maintaining our brand identity was priority number one," explains Anolik. "Taking raw inputs from Twitter and adapting these to our needs enabled us to meet this goal." Portions of the site with static content did not necessitate the new Twitter CMS approach, but pages including recent awards and the Quango company profile are updatable via Twitter. This shared access allows all members of the Quango social media team to contribute to the site--enabling consistent updates and a broad portrayal of the Quango voice.

"This is Not That"
"In an environment that's constantly evolving, we wanted to be able to instantly position ourselves in response to outside influences," said Anolik. "The 'We are This, not That' element (http://www.quangoinc.com/company/) grew from this concept. By submitting a Twitter post using a specific hashtag and format, we can update this page element in real-time--allowing our brand personality to change, grow and evolve." In addition to Twitter feeds, Quango also utilized Away3D, an open-source library for Flash in combination with beta vector importing classes for typography to enable a three-dimensional, interactive client list (http://www.quangoinc.com/clientList.php).
